Organizing Assets in the Media Library

The Media Library is the central place for every image, document, and file your store uses — product photos, blog featured images, page banners, and more. Anything you upload here can be reused across products, pages, and posts.

Step 1: Open the Media Library

From the admin sidebar, click Media (or open /app/media). You will see a grid of all uploaded assets with thumbnails, filenames, and file sizes.

Step 2: Upload Files

Click the upload area or drag files directly onto it. A few things to know:

  • Maximum file size is 100 MB per file.
  • Common image formats (JPG, PNG, GIF, WebP, AVIF), videos (MP4, WebM), and documents (PDF, DOCX, XLSX) are supported.
  • For security, executable and script files (HTML, JS, PHP, EXE, SVG, etc.) are blocked.

If your store has Google Drive enabled, you can also import directly from Drive using the picker button.

Step 3: Search for an Asset

Use the search box at the top of the library to filter by filename or alt text. The library paginates 50 assets at a time.

Step 4: Edit Asset Details

Click any asset to open the detail page, where you can update:

  1. File Name — Change the display name without affecting links that already use the asset.
  2. Alt Text — A short description used by screen readers and indexed by search engines. Always fill this in for product and content images.
  3. Caption — A longer description shown beneath the image in some themes.
  4. Public — Toggle off to keep the file private (only accessible by your admin).

Step 5: Copy the File URL

Each asset has a public URL you can copy with the Copy button next to the URL field. Paste this URL anywhere you need to reference the file — in custom HTML, page content, or external tools.

Step 6: Delete Unused Files

Use the Delete button to remove assets you no longer need. Be careful: any product, page, or post still referencing the file will show a broken image. Search the admin first to make sure nothing is using it.
