Selling Digital Products

Nuvi supports selling digital products alongside or instead of physical goods. Digital products include e-books, courses, design templates, music files, software licenses, and any other downloadable item.

Creating a Digital Product

Digital products are created just like physical products with a few differences:

1. Go to Products > New Product.
2. Enter the title, description, and images as usual.
3. In the Shipping section, uncheck "This product requires shipping". This removes shipping calculations and address requirements during checkout.
4. Set your price and publish the product.

Setting Up File Delivery

After purchase, customers need to receive their digital files. Nuvi offers several delivery methods:

Manual Delivery

For small volumes, you can email the file directly to the customer after each order:

• Go to the order detail page after a purchase.
• Click "Create Fulfillment" and attach the digital file or a download link in the notes.
• The customer receives an email notification with your notes.

Automated Delivery with ActivePieces

For higher volume, set up an automation workflow:

1. Open ActivePieces from the admin panel.
2. Create a new flow triggered by "New Order".
3. Add a condition to check if the product is digital (no shipping required).
4. Add an Email action to send the download link automatically.

Download Links and Security

To protect your digital files from unauthorized sharing:

• Host files on a secure storage service (Nuvi's built-in MinIO storage or an external service like S3).
• Generate expiring download links that are valid for a limited time (e.g., 48 hours).
• Limit the number of downloads per link (e.g., 3 downloads maximum).
• Include a terms of use notice on the product page clarifying that the file is for personal use only.

Tips for Digital Product Success

• Preview content — Offer a free sample or preview page so customers know what they are buying.
• Clear file format — State the file format and size in the product description (e.g., "PDF, 45 pages, 12MB").
• Instant gratification — Automate delivery so customers receive files within minutes of purchase.
• Bundle products — Create bundles of related digital products at a discounted price to increase average order value.
