Selling Subscription Products

Subscriptions let you bill customers on a recurring basis — perfect for memberships, software, boxes, or any service with predictable revenue. Nuvi includes a built-in subscription plan builder and customer management dashboard.

Step 1: Open the Subscriptions Panel

In the admin panel, click Subscriptions in the left sidebar. You will see two tabs: Plans (templates customers subscribe to) and Subscriptions (active customer records).

Step 2: Create a New Plan

Click "New Plan" in the top-right and fill in the form:

  1. Plan Name — What customers see at checkout (e.g., "Monthly Coffee Box").
  2. Description — Short summary of what is included.
  3. Price & Currency — The recurring charge amount.
  4. Features — Add bullet points highlighting plan benefits.

Step 3: Configure the Billing Cycle

Choose how often customers are charged:

  • Interval — Daily, Weekly, Monthly, or Yearly.
  • Interval Count — Bill every N intervals (e.g., every 3 months for quarterly billing).
  • Billing Cycles — Optional limit on total charges. Leave empty for indefinite renewal.

Step 4: Add a Trial Period

Use Trial Days to give customers free access before the first charge. During the trial, the subscription status shows as Trial. After it ends, the customer is billed automatically. Set this to 0 to disable.

Step 5: Manage Active Subscriptions

Switch to the Subscriptions tab to see every active customer. Each row shows the customer email, plan, status, payment provider, and next billing date. Filter by status — Active, Trial, Paused, Past Due, Canceled, or Expired — to quickly find what you need.

Step 6: Handle Failed Payments

When a recurring charge fails, the subscription enters Past Due status and the system retries on a dunning schedule. You can manually update the status from the subscription detail page if needed. Customers can update their payment method through their account portal on your storefront.
